A Lady McLeod Forgery.

This is a well executed forgery of Trinidad’s classic stamp, the Lady McLeod, on cover.

Lady McLeod’s are very rare on cover and are usually addressed to Taylor and Co. in San Fernando. They were also cancelled by a small cross in pen ink, (although not as large as this one).

The Lady McLeod is famous not only because it is rare and elegant in design. It is also the first stamp to be issued by a British Colony (1847).
